Sheets Converter
AI-PoweredConvert bank and credit-card statement PDFs to Excel, CSV, QuickBooks, or Xero — verified against printed balances.
About Sheets Converter
What it does
Sheets Converter parses bank and credit-card statement PDFs — including scanned or photographed statements — into structured spreadsheet formats, then automatically verifies the output by checking extracted totals against the opening and closing balances printed on the original statement. Discrepancies are flagged before the user downloads anything, reducing the risk of importing incorrect data into accounting software.
Each converted statement can be downloaded in up to six formats: Microsoft Excel (.xlsx), generic CSV, QuickBooks Online CSV, Xero CSV, Quicken CSV, and OFX. OFX is available only for digital statements that carry the account number, currency, period, and closing balance in machine-readable form. The Excel output includes the date, description, amount, running balance, an auto-suggested category, and a reference back to the specific page and line number on the original statement, plus a Summary sheet showing reconciliation status at a glance.
Scanned PDFs and statement photos are handled through an AI reading layer powered by Anthropic's Claude models. Claude Sonnet reads each page; Claude Opus re-reads any page whose extracted figures fail the balance check. Anthropic does not train on submitted images and deletes them within 30 days. Sheets Converter itself retains the AI reading for at most 24 hours after the result is delivered to the browser and stores only a one-way fingerprint of the uploaded PDF — not the file itself.
Who it suits
The tool is aimed primarily at bookkeepers, accountants, and small businesses who regularly need to get transaction data out of PDF bank statements and into accounting platforms. The free tier — 40 tokens every 30 days, covering roughly 13 pages of standard conversion per month — suits occasional users, and a single free statement of up to 10 pages can be downloaded as Excel or CSV without creating an account.
Higher-volume practices can subscribe to monthly plans: Basic at US$17 per month for 250 tokens, Pro at US$39 per month for 700 tokens, or Max at US$99 per month for 2,500 tokens. Users processing a full year of monthly statements can upload up to 50 files in a single session. The tool supports English and French bank and credit-card statements; practices working primarily in other languages should look elsewhere.
Setup and integrations
Sheets Converter is a web-based tool built by Boldsand Software Inc., based in Charlottetown, Canada, and requires no installation. Users can begin converting without an account; creating one unlocks history saving and access to purchased tokens. Payments are processed through Stripe's Link service.
There is no direct integration with accounting platforms. The workflow ends with a downloadable file — QuickBooks Online CSV, Xero CSV, Quicken CSV, generic CSV, Excel, or OFX — which the user imports manually. The tool also offers free companion utilities including a QuickBooks CSV checker, a reconciliation template, an OFX converter, and a Xero CSV checker. Per-file upload limit is 10 MB; session total is 50 MB across up to 50 files.
Where it falls short
Language support is limited to English and French statements. Not every bank layout is supported; when a layout is unrecognized, the tool declines to convert rather than returning a potentially incorrect result, which can stall workflows when an unsupported statement is encountered.
AI-assisted reading of scanned or photographed statements costs 9 tokens per page versus 3 tokens per page for standard conversion, and purchased tokens are required to use it beyond the free tier. Monthly plan tokens reset with no rollover. OFX output is restricted to digital statements containing the account number, currency, period, and closing balance in machine-readable form. There is no direct integration with accounting platforms beyond downloadable import files, and the Quicken CSV is noted only for Windows users working with currencies carrying two decimal places.

Pros & Cons
Pros
- Every converted statement is automatically checked against the opening and closing balances printed on the original, and any discrepancy is flagged before download — reducing the risk of importing incorrect transaction data.
- Output covers six formats in a single conversion: Excel, generic CSV, QuickBooks Online CSV, Xero CSV, Quicken CSV, and OFX, eliminating the need for separate tools per platform.
- A meaningful free tier — 40 tokens every 30 days with no credit card required, plus a first statement free without an account — lets users validate the tool before spending anything.
- The Excel output includes a per-row reference to the exact page and line number on the source statement, making it straightforward to audit or spot-check individual transactions.
- Scanned PDFs and statement photos are supported via an AI reading layer, with cost shown upfront before processing begins and a two-model verification pass to catch pages that do not reconcile.
Cons
- Language support is currently limited to English and French statements, excluding firms that work with statements in other languages.
- Not every bank statement layout is supported, and the tool declines to convert unsupported formats rather than attempting a best-effort extraction, which may require manual fallback work.
- AI-assisted reading of scanned statements consumes 9 tokens per page — three times the cost of standard conversion — and cannot be done using the free token allowance, requiring a paid plan or token pack.
- Monthly plan tokens do not roll over, meaning unused capacity is lost at the end of each billing period.
- There is no direct API or live integration with accounting platforms; output is limited to downloadable files that users must manually import into QuickBooks, Xero, or other software.
- The OFX export is only available for digital statements that include the account number, currency, period, and closing balance in machine-readable form, limiting its availability for many real-world statements.
